"Dextr AI Raises $6.7 Million to Bring AI Agents Into Hotel Operations"

Hospitality-focused startup Dextr AI has raised $6.7 million in seed funding led by Elevation Capital, with participation from Foundation Capital, as it looks to expand its AI agents across global hotel markets including India. The company says its software is already handling more than 1 million interactions a month for hundreds of properties across North America and Europe, while automating reservations, guest requests, staffing and marketing.

Hospitality technology startup Dextr AI has raised $6.7 million, or about Rs 64.2 crore, in a seed round led by Elevation Capital with participation from Foundation Capital, as the company accelerates its push to automate hotel operations through specialised AI agents.

Founded in 2025 by Sajid Shariff and Scott Arnold, Dextr AI is building software designed specifically for the hospitality sector, a market where missed calls, delayed responses and staffing shortages can quickly translate into lost revenue and poor guest experiences. The company said the fresh capital will be used for product development, team expansion and scaling deployments across global hospitality markets, including India, where it sees significant room for automation.

Dextr's pitch is rooted in a simple operational problem: hotels and similar properties are expected to respond instantly across reservations, guest services, back-office functions and marketing, often with limited staff and fragmented systems. The startup says its platform automates tasks across reservations, guest management, back-office operations, staffing, sales and marketing, allowing properties to handle routine work faster and more consistently.

According to the company, its software already serves hundreds of properties across the US, Canada, the UK and other European markets, including franchised properties operating under brands such as Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western and IHG. Dextr said its platform processes more than 1 million interactions every month and also collects payments through voice-based reservations, handling tens of millions of dollars monthly on behalf of customers.

That scale suggests the startup is moving beyond a pilot-stage product and into a broader operational layer for hospitality businesses. In India, where hotel operators often contend with high call volumes, uneven staffing and rising guest expectations, Dextr is targeting what it describes as operational gaps such as missed calls, unanswered enquiries, staffing shortages and unattended guest requests. The company's expansion strategy appears aimed at markets where labor constraints and service consistency are persistent challenges.

Dextr follows what it calls a "forward-deployed" model, under which its AI strategists and engineers work directly with hospitality businesses to identify tasks for automation and integrate the agents into day-to-day operations. That approach mirrors a growing trend in enterprise AI, where startups are not merely selling software but embedding technical teams into customer workflows to speed adoption and improve outcomes.

The company's product suite is built around multiple agents, each assigned a distinct operational role. Daisy handles voice-based reservations, booking changes and upselling in more than 90 languages. Alfred manages guest requests, complaints and contactless check-ins. Manny is focused on staff rostering, task allocation, productivity tracking and potential overtime. Cosmo supports direct bookings through AI-powered search, targeted marketing campaigns and efforts to bring back past guests.

Dextr currently has nearly 20 employees spread across India and the US, including AI product builders, strategists and engineers. For a startup at this stage, the team size underscores a lean operating model centered on product specialization and direct customer deployment rather than broad consumer-scale growth.

The investment also fits into Elevation Capital's broader thesis around automation in customer interactions and business workflows. In October last year, the investor led GreyLabs AI's Rs 85 crore Series A round, with participation from Z47 and angel investors. GreyLabs focuses on financial institutions, offering voice agents and speech analytics to automate contact centre operations. Elevation also led a $6 million funding round in Adopt AI, which helps users automate software workflows through text commands.

Taken together, those bets show an investor strategy spanning both vertical-specific AI applications and more general workflow automation tools. Dextr AI sits squarely in the first category, targeting a large, service-heavy industry where speed, language coverage and operational reliability can directly affect revenue.

For hospitality operators, the promise is not just lower costs but a more responsive guest experience. If Dextr can continue proving that AI agents can reliably manage reservations, requests and staffing tasks at scale, it may become part of a broader shift in how hotels run their front lines and back offices. The company's next phase will test whether its early traction in Western markets can translate into meaningful adoption in India and other fast-growing hospitality regions.
