Godavari Golden Eagles and Rayalaseema Xen Stars will contest the inaugural Women's Andhra Premier League final after both sides produced composed, high-quality wins in their respective matches at the ACA International Stadium in Mangalagiri on Friday.
The Golden Eagles were the first to secure their place in Sunday's title clash, defeating Vizag Firebirds by 27 runs in a contest that gradually tilted away from the chasing side once K. Pushpitha shifted gears. After opting to bat, the Golden Eagles built their innings steadily before Pushpitha unleashed the decisive acceleration, finishing unbeaten on 91 off 56 balls with 10 boundaries and four sixes. Her late surge transformed a solid platform into a match-winning total of 156 for 2 in 20 overs.
The key passage came in the 17th over, when P. Sarayu was taken apart for 22 runs, including two towering sixes over wide long-on and long-off. That over not only lifted the scoring rate sharply but also underlined the control Golden Eagles had established in the second half of the innings. Pushpitha found an able partner in skipper Henrietta Flavia Pereira, who remained unbeaten on 34, and the pair added 100 runs in the latter stages to push the innings beyond the reach of the Firebirds.
For Vizag Firebirds, the chase never truly settled. Golden Eagles' bowlers struck at regular intervals, denying the batting side any sustained momentum and forcing them into a defensive posture. The Firebirds eventually finished on 129 for 8 in their 20 overs, their fourth defeat of the campaign confirming a last-place finish in the standings. The result reflected not only the quality of Golden Eagles' batting finish, but also their discipline in the field and with the ball when defending a competitive total.
Later in the day, Rayalaseema Xen Stars joined them in the final after a 32-run victory over Amaravathi e-Champions. Their batting effort was anchored by E. Padmaja, whose unbeaten 61 off just 29 deliveries provided the decisive burst in a total of 172 for 5. Padmaja struck nine fours and a six, giving the innings the kind of late impetus that often proves decisive in short-format cricket.
V. Setu Sai also contributed 31 as Xen Stars assembled a strong total, but it was Padmaja's clean striking that gave the innings its edge. In response, e-Champions appeared to be in control for stretches of the chase, with Deeksha Katragadda and K. Devika keeping them in contention. Deeksha made 42 and Devika added 39, and for a period the target looked within reach.
However, once those two were dismissed, the innings lost shape. Xen Stars tightened the screws, applied pressure through the middle and lower overs, and prevented any late recovery. The e-Champions were eventually bowled out for 140 in 19.4 overs, with Vasavi emerging as the pick of the bowlers for the winners, returning 4 for 23.
