Astronomers Capture the Clearest Exoplanet Formation Signal Yet, Revealing a Twin Gas Wake

Astronomers have reported the sharpest direct view yet of a forming exoplanet’s surrounding gas, a finding that strengthens the case for watching planet birth in real time rather than inferring it indirectly. The observation, made with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, also appears to show a twin structure in the gas flow, offering a rare look at how giant planets sculpt their birth environment.
