India Needs Three National Carriers to Compete Globally, Says Adani Airports CEO
India should aim to support at least three national carriers if it wants to compete with global aviation hubs, Adani Airports CEO Arun Bansal said, arguing that the country’s air transport system must be built for a much larger market than it serves today. He said domestic airlines need protection and airports must expand rapidly to handle a projected fourfold rise in passenger traffic by 2040-45.
