Scientists Say the Best Worlds for Life May Orbit Far Closer to Their Stars Than Earth Does

A growing body of astrobiology research is challenging the long-held assumption that Earth is the ideal template for life. In a recent discussion highlighted by Avi Loeb, scientists argue that some exoplanets may be more hospitable than Earth because they sit in more stable, energy-rich environments around their stars. The debate matters far beyond astronomy, reshaping how researchers think about habitability, planetary resilience, and the search for life elsewhere in the universe.
