Supreme Court Says 14 States Agree to Raise Judicial Officers’ Retirement Age to 62
The Supreme Court on Monday said 14 states have so far agreed to raise the retirement age of judicial officers from 60 to 62 years, a move the Chief Justice of India described as a significant step toward strengthening the lower judiciary. The court said it remains hopeful that the remaining states will follow suit, underscoring the broader push to improve judicial capacity and reduce vacancies.
