‘Kapi Sutra’ Recasts the Hanuman Chalisa Through Kuchipudi

A new Kuchipudi production titled “Kapi Sutra,” choreographed by Srimoyi Vempati, has brought the Hanuman Chalisa into the language of classical dance, weaving episodes from the Ramayana into an ensemble work centered on Hanuman’s many dimensions. The presentation stood out for its devotional intensity, narrative clarity, and the way it translated a familiar spiritual text into a visually layered stage experience.
