Google Bets on Space Data Centers, but Starship Must Scale First
Google has moved a step closer to testing artificial intelligence infrastructure in orbit, unveiling Project Suncatcher and launching prototype hardware into space as part of an early feasibility push. But the companyโs own analysis underscores the scale of the challenge: SpaceXโs Starship would need to fly roughly 1,800 times before the economics and logistics of space-based data centers begin to look viable.
