Environment Minister Releases Two Male Great Indian Bustards into Jaisalmer Desert National Park

India’s Environment Minister on Friday released two male Great Indian Bustards into the wild at Desert National Park in Jaisalmer, marking a closely watched conservation intervention for one of the country’s most endangered birds. The release underscores the government’s continuing effort to strengthen habitat-based recovery measures for a species whose survival remains under severe pressure from power infrastructure, habitat loss, and low reproductive rates.
