Laser Reprograms Ultrathin Optical Device Without Electrodes, Pointing to Low-Power Photonic Control
Researchers in Germany have demonstrated a way to temporarily reconfigure an ultrathin optical device using light alone, eliminating the need for electrodes in the control process. The advance, built around dyed liquid crystals, could help accelerate low-power photonic systems for sensing, communications and other clean-tech applications where compact, energy-efficient light management matters.
