NASA Turns to Scotlandโs Highlands to Decode Marsโ Ancient Habitability
NASA scientists have travelled to the Scottish Highlands to study ancient rocks that may resemble some of the earliest materials on Mars, in a field effort aimed at sharpening the search for signs of past life on the Red Planet. The work underscores how terrestrial geology remains central to planetary science, especially as researchers try to interpret whether Mars once had the water, chemistry and environmental stability needed to support life.
