China’s PV Export Controls Threaten India’s Solar Upstream Ambitions
China’s tightening export controls around photovoltaic cells could complicate India’s push to build a deeper domestic solar manufacturing base, especially for companies moving upstream into cells, wafers, ingots and polysilicon. The restrictions risk slowing equipment flows, raising costs and delaying capacity additions at a time when Indian manufacturers are trying to reduce dependence on imported inputs.
