Justice in Cybercrime Cases Often Depends on Bribery and Influence, New India Survey Finds
A new Status of Policing in India Report (SPIR) 2026, based on a survey across 16 states, suggests that victims of cybercrime do not experience the criminal justice system equally. The report finds that bribery and the use of personal networks are two of the main channels through which complaints move forward, with both appearing to work more often for marginalised groups than for others.
