Indian Exporters Ready Consignments as India–New Zealand FTA Nears Launch
Indian exporters are preparing shipments ahead of the launch of the India–New Zealand free trade agreement, betting that tariff elimination will open a modest but strategically important market for higher-duty sectors. While New Zealand’s average tariff is only about 1.9%, Indian industry expects the strongest gains in textiles, leather, footwear, automobiles, auto parts and chemicals. The deal is being watched as a test of how India can convert tariff access into export growth in smaller but premium markets.
