BoE’s Taylor Says Energy Prices Alone Do Not Justify a Rate Hike
Bank of England policymaker Alan Taylor said higher energy prices by themselves are unlikely to warrant another interest-rate increase unless they feed into persistent, broad-based inflation. He pointed to limited second-round effects, moderate wage growth and subdued food-price pressures, even as the Monetary Policy Committee remains divided at 3.75%.
