Sebi Building Second Surveillance Layer to Flag ‘Bad Elements’ in Listed Companies, Varshney Says
India’s markets regulator is developing a second surveillance system aimed at identifying “bad elements” among listed companies, according to a senior official. The Securities and Exchange Board of India is also examining ways to screen small initial public offerings that may not be appropriate for the capital market, signalling a tighter gatekeeping approach as equity fundraising remains active.
