Holding Companies, NBFCs Rework Balance Sheets to Stay Outside RBI Net
Indian corporate groups are reshaping the balance sheets of non-banking finance companies and core investment companies to avoid falling within the Reserve Bank of Indiaโs regulatory definitions, according to sources familiar with the matter. The adjustments are aimed at reducing registration and compliance burdens, with NBFCs increasing non-financial income and CICs altering their asset mix to remain outside tighter supervisory scrutiny.
