A Vast Ocean Graveyard Is Becoming a Climate Test Case for Reuse and Recycling
A sprawling artificial reef off the coast of Florida, larger than Central Park and lying about 24 metres below the surface, has become an unexpected focal point in the debate over marine conservation, waste management and climate-era reuse. The site, built from hundreds of retired subway cars and a handful of military tanks, illustrates how discarded industrial material can be repurposed — but also raises hard questions about long-term environmental oversight.
