IFC Commits ₹672 Crore to JNPA for Shore Power Infrastructure
The World Bank Group’s private-sector arm, the International Finance Corporation, has committed ₹672 crore to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority to develop shore power infrastructure. The financing is intended to help ships at berth switch off diesel engines and draw electricity from the land grid, reducing emissions at one of India’s busiest ports. The project marks a significant step in port decarbonisation and aligns with broader efforts to modernise maritime logistics while improving air quality around port communities. It also signals growing international appetite for climate-linked infrastructure in India’s transport sector.
