RBI Eases Bank Stake Rules, Opens One-Time Approval Route for Funds and Insurers
The Reserve Bank of India has finalised a simpler framework for bank shareholding, allowing eligible mutual funds, insurance companies and pension funds to seek one-time approval for subsequent acquisitions of major shareholding in the same bank up to 10 per cent. The move is aimed at reducing regulatory friction while preserving oversight over concentrated ownership in the banking system.
